SFJ Level 3 Award in Counter-Terrorism Protective Security and Preparedness

Security threats are evolving – and so are the expectations on those responsible for keeping people and places safe.

This new nationally recognised SFJ qualification gives you the knowledge, confidence and practical tools to understand terrorist threats, assess risk and strengthen protective security and preparedness across your organisation.

It was developed in collaboration with the National Counter-Terrorism Security Office (NaCTSO) and is the only qualification endorsed by Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) and NaCTSO. It is designed to support individuals and organisations that fall within the scope of the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025 (Martyn’s Law).

Who it's for

This five-day course is designed for anyone with responsibility for the safety, security and preparedness of a venue, site or organisation, or involved in risk assessment and safety planning.

• Completing a Counter-Terrorism Written Recommendation
• Completing a Counter-Terrorism Risk Assessment and Preparedness Plan

This is a hands-on, instructor-led programme, not a tick-box exercise. You’ll take part in guided discussions, practical exercises and applied learning throughout, working towards your assessments with support from our experienced practitioners who understand the realities of security on the ground.

Everything is grounded in real-life scenarios, so you can immediately apply what you learn to your own organisation.

Assessments

To achieve the qualification, you’ll complete three assessments:

• A multiple-choice exam to test your knowledge
• A written assignment where you develop a counter-terrorism risk assessment and preparedness plan
• A professional discussion to demonstrate your judgement and decision-making

All assessments are set and quality assured by the awarding body.
